Hereditary Brachydactylia and Allied Abnormalities in the Rabbit

چکیده
A series of deformities in the rabbit ranging from brachydactylia to acheiropodia have been described. Experimental breeding demonstrated that the occurrence of the deformities was determined by simple recessive hereditary factors and that the various types were genetically related and were not distinct hereditary entities. Embryological investigation showed the first abnormal change was a dilatation of blood vessels in affected buds. This was followed by hemorrhage and necrosis of the parts involved. Sloughing subsequently occurred, and the deformity was completely expressed by the 25th day of fetal life.

Oxycephaly and Allied Conditions in Man and in the Rabbit
Craniosynostosis and the pathological complex with which it is associated in the rabbit are not identical with the abnormalities seen in man; but apparently the two sets of conditions have enough in common to warrant the conclusion that they probably have a common mode of origin. The evidence so far obtained shows that in the rabbit these conditions are hereditary. The factors for the productio...
متن کاملDihydrofolate reductase and thymidylate synthetase activities in the liver of rabbit foetuses during the haemapoietic period.
Dihydrofolate reductase activity did not change with variations of mitotic rate in foetal rabbit haemopoietic tissue, whereas the activity of thymidylate synthetase declined with decrease in cell divisions. Both the activities were normal in the brachydactylia strain, in which a failure in folate metabolism was previously assumed.

BACKGROUND: Giardia has the ability to infect many mammals including dogs, cats, deer, mice, ground squirrels, chinchillas, swine, rabbits, pocket mice, oxen, guinea pigs, and humans. Giardia lamblia (also Giardia duodenalis, G.intestinalis) isolates have been variably divided into two or three genotypes by different investigators, and each group can be divided into subgroups. OBJECTIVES: We ha...
